Foo Fighters est un groupe de rock alternatif américain formé en 1995. Il s’agit du nouveau projet de Dave Grohl, ancien batteur de feu Nirvana, initié quelques mois après la mort de Kurt Cobain. Dès le premier album (où Grohl joue de tous les instruments et chante ses propres textes), c’est un succès public.
Pour la suite de l’aventure, Grohl choisira de passer à la formule classique du quatuor basse-batterie-guitares. Les compositions de Dave Grohl, devenu chanteur-guitariste, s’étendent de la ballade-rock soyeuse à un hardcore agité mais pas trop.
La bande à Dave Grohl est revenue le 24 septembre 2007 avec un sixième album studio, précédé le 6 août par la mise en radio mondiale du single The Pretender.
